How to opt in

Employers seeking new ways to help their employees can contact us at

how to join the scheme.

Employees of participating employers can join via our workplace portal which will allow you to open a new account, apply for a loan, set up a payroll deduction arrangement or amend an existing one, register relatives and set up savings plans for them. How to qualify

Employers located in the boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham, Waltham Forest,
Islington, Haringey or the City of London are eligible to become partner organisations.

Workplace Champions

Workplace Champions promote LCCU within workplaces in a variety of ways, and will help to establish and promote payroll deduction programmes where employers have agreed to give their employees this important benefit.

For more information on how to get you or your workplace involved, contact your
local branch.

Workplace Champions will be invited to attend a short training session, providing them with information about the Credit Union and available products, and develop their confidence talking about them.

Champions will be provided with promotional material, and supported by a member of our Outreach Team to do appropriate outreach in the workplace. This can range from supplying leaflets to organising workplace events.

Workplace Events

LCCU has developed a ‘Pop-Up Bank’ which can be taken to workplaces to support the promotion of our services.

Why be a Workplace champion?

LCCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative run for, and by, its members. It is at the forefront of the fight against financial exclusion, and helps to keep money invested within the community. It is a people-focused approach that provides vital services
and support for individuals and neighbourhoods.

We hope the experience of working as an advocate for, and engaging with, the admirable work of the Credit Union will be a rewarding experience for Champions,
as well as an opportunity to develop new skills.

Anybody within the workplace can be a Champion, and there are no minimum time commitments required.

Benefits for Workplaces

The LCCU is a co-operative run for the benefit of its members. Through greater
access to appropriate products and encouragement to save and borrow wisely while developing sound money management skills, LCCU can support greater financial well being which helps to reduce stress amongst employees.

Payroll Deductions

All employers have the option of  offering their employees the benefits of a Payroll Deduction agreement with the Credit Union. The Workplace Credit Champions can facilitate this benefit which gives employees easier access to Credit Union services and access to LCCU’s low-cost loan facility.
